Work Experience

Foundation Theatres are passionate about supporting the next generation of theatre makers. Our Work Experience Program will provide opportunities to secondary school students to experience how live venues operate.

In 2025, Foundation Theatres will offer week-long work experience to six secondary students to visit our venues and learn from our experienced staff. The successful applicants will spend time onsite at the Capitol Theatre and Sydney Lyric.

Your week will be split across all aspects of our business including technical operations, facilities management and maintenance, front-of-house operations, food and beverage service, ticketing, merchandising and administration.

Foundation Theatres Work Experience Program

Our Work Experience Program gives Year 10 students the chance to work with other like-minded students whilst being mentored by leading professionals in the performing arts industry.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds, experiences, cultures and languages. If you love theatre and are ready to learn, this could be an experience you’ll never forget.

To apply, you must be:

• At least 15 years of age
• Enrolled in an Australian school or education program
• Be covered by your educational institutions Public LiabilityInsurance. You will be asked to supply this before being accepted for the program.
• Able to work until late at night and be collected from the Theatre

Our 2025 work experience program will be taking place in May 2025. You must be available to partake in the program during this week.

Travel and accommodation support is available for regional applicants. Please indicate on the application form if you would like to be considered for travel supports.

Applications are now open and close on 23rd March 2025. We do receive a large number of applications each year, and as such we are unfortunately unable to place every student who applies. Every applicant will be informed via email if they are successful.
